The Beauty In the Darkness v 2.0

Hello my anxious hearts, how are you?

It’s been a while. A big while.

Rather than ramble about what’s been, I’ll just say that it’s been a journey of epic proportions. A roller coaster. A soul searching, gut wrenching, awakening journey. In parts it felt that I may not get through it, but I did. And you’ll be so pleased to hear that I tried to get through most of it with a smile. I’m not sure that there will ever be an end to the journey. Maybe thats the whole point. Maybe we are all on a constant journey of discovery and each season of our life offers change, growth and adaptation so that we can move forward. So for now I’ve grown to accept that for this season of my life, at least, that’s how it’s gonna be. It’s not always good. But I accept it.

I’ll do separate posts on the parts and outcomes of this journey in coming weeks. In the mean time there’s a little preamble on my updated About Me page.

So, the forever efficient Virgo in me, never stays down for too long or will ever waste the time that I have been given. I wanted to once again turn the negative to a positive. So I have been contemplating how I can get back to my writing and sharing my thoughts without too much pressure of a schedule.

I spend a lot of time resting. Not by choice, but by necessity. I don’t always sleep. I Just lay my weary bones down.

During this time. And in the morning. And the evening. And any other down time I get, I am absorbing. Like a sponge. Absorbing all the info I can get my hands on. Nothing has, nor ever will, give me more pleasure than having and retaining more knowledge, particularly on topics of mental health and well-being.

This knowledge that I absorb, will be anything from the latest self help book, to a new podcast episode, a blog post from one of my favourite gurus or reading online magazine articles from places like Tiny Buddha and The Elephant Journal.

Self improvement, better health, well-being and spirituality are my jam.

But they are not my only jam. There are a host of other major topics that get my heart rate up; fashion, style, make-up, beauty regimens, minimalism vs maximalism, art, books, cups of tea, nature, the world at large.

All these things get absorbed into the sponge that is my brain.

And in the words of my sister: ‘You know a lot of shit!’

And I do. I make it my business to know and be all knowing. Particularly now, as my part in the main stream world of every day living, is so depleted, these topics give me life.

So I thought that each week I will give you a snappy report of the best bits; the stuff that really floated my boat. An edit of the stuff that I think matters and most importantly will add value to your already busy life.

It will be Kiki’s edit of what you need to know and some fun stuff too. And save you the job of trawling through a mindfield of info. Or scrolling through Instagram till you’re cross eyed. It will hopefully help your mental health, your well-being, your wardrobe and your heart.

What do you think? The Series will be called ”The Edit: What I Learnt/Loved This Week #WILTW’ And I will aim to post on a Sunday/Monday evening ready for your week ahead.

I’ll also try to post more specific posts on any one of these topics as often as I can. And hopefully spark some interest for you.

I hope you’ll enjoy this series. It’s a way of me giving back from the confines of a bed.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

In the mean time you can read my most popular post ever; You Are Good Enough. There are also some great posts from the archive here. And I’ll start planning the new content for a new beginning in 2019! I’m excited.

Take good care of yourselves.

Onwards always my loves,
