FASHION & STYLE // Christmas 2015 – Gift guide for her
Christmas is definitely my favourite time of year. Now, anyone who knows me will vouch for the fact that I love to shop. So Christmas for me is just an excuse for me to flex my shopping muscles and find the best possible gifts for my nearest and dearest.
So with this in mind I thought I’d share a few of this seasons top gifts for all you girls, the girls in your life and maybe a few sneaky ones for yourself too.
Jewellery
Any jewellery is always welcomed as far as I’m concerned. I can never have enough.
My pick for this edit is The White Company sterling silver wishbone cuff. Beautifully crafted, perfectly boxed and is a classic piece that will last years. Cuffs are big news this season.
For a purse friendly piece, this beautiful Tribal Cuff by Accessorize is perfect too.
For earrings or stack rings then Pandora offer some wondrous pieces. These beautiful rose gold heart stud earrings are simple and elegant and should bring a smile to the face of any lady in your life.
For rings the offerings are endless. You can go for something more classic and simplistic like this silver elegance ring. My personal favourite is the Forever Pandora statement ring. For those who hold a feather so dear, then the feather ring is stunningly beautiful and comes in either silver or rose gold.
Not on the high street.com do some amazing personalised jewels. These are always welcomed as they are so personal and heartfelt. I love this triple letter necklace that comes in silver, gold and rose gold and can be personalised with your loved ones initials. I also love these friendship knot earrings they are just beautiful for that special friend in your life.
Slippers
Seriously, Christmas is not Christmas without new slippers. This year I’m loving these cosy Snug Shoots from Next that come in three lush colour choices.
If you like something with more structure then the Suedette Glitter Mule from Accessorize are for you.
If you feel that slippers are old news, then maybe go for cashmere socks. The White Company know their cashmere with these beautiful Cashmere Bed Socks that come in a variety of colours.
Sportswear and accessories
Now, believe me when I say I am no expert in this area. But many of my friends are. There are some fantastic pieces on the Fabletics site. Owned and pioneered by Kate Hudson of Hollywood fame.
They have an option for VIP, so you get a great deal on training bras, vests, running shorts and leggings and so many small gifts like water bottles and hats.
Clothing
There’s so much to choose from this season but a few of my favourites:
The little black dress. This has to be either lace or sequins to be bang on trend. My pick is the Ceilidh Dress from Monsoon. It ticks all the boxes for me, elegant, chic and will last for years for any occasion, but particularly at Christmas. (Stock is varying daily so keep checking back.)
For the curvy girls I love this ASOS Curve Wrap Mono Print Dress for something really different in the most flattering cut.
For sequins you can go for a dress like this one from Next. Or a sequin skirt like this one from Topshop and pair with a simple top or shirt.
Victorian tops are huge this season and look amazing with skinny jeans, leather trousers or a suede skirt. I love this one from Warehouse.
And this white high neck from ASOS Curve.
The poncho is a must have accessory. Somewhere between a cover-up and scarf. Everyone from Tesco F&F to ASOS to Topshop are doing them.
Faux fur coats are massive this year. Maybe treat your girl to a luxury fur. Topshop have a huge selection, some more ‘out there’ than others. I personally like the shaggy look of this grey one. But this Ted Baker at ASOS is truly classic and will last for years to come.
Make-up
For any girl who loves make-up, you only have to look to Charlotte Tilbury for inspiration. To start, her Red Carpet Red Lipstick is a make-up staple for any girl who loves lippy.
She has brought out a selection of perfect Christmas gift sets. She has done all the hard work for you. There are gifts in all price brackets. From as little as £16 to over £200.
Her Lipstick mini charms are a fantastic way to try her lipsticks. Her Nocturnal Cat Eyes sets have a colour combination for every eye colour. The Silver Leopard is perfect for light eyes and the Midnight Seduction is perfect for dark eyes.
I can’t talk Charlotte Tilbury without mentioning her ‘Filmstar Bronze and Glow‘. For a touch of old school Hollywood, this bronzer and highlighter is incredible.
Bobbi Brown has her famous brush sets again this year which make makeup application a dream. The Mini Travel Set is a perfect Christmas gift for her.
Chanel is a luxury in anyone’s language. For me every year I ask for the same item. The Chanel Rouge Noir nail colour. It is without doubt a cult product and is completely timeless and classic. And wrapped in that black and white packaging its going to win you prizes every time.
For more affordable make-up pieces you cannot go wrong with the Topshop make-up. Anything from their Mini Lip Bullets to their Glow Stick cream highlighter. All fabulous products and make perfect stocking fillers.
Clinique have brought out a fab gift set in their ‘Whole Lotta Chubby‘ gift set. Its three lip colours, a blush and a highlighter. You genuinely can’t go wrong and it’s really well priced. They are all in my collection and are fab products.
Handbags
Chloe launched a saddle bag this season but most of us can’t reach these heights. The high street have great copies. This Zara Mock Croc Messenger is perfect. Its elegant and classic and will last years.
Suede is huge this season so go for a large tote. Again Zara nails it, I love this Tan Suede Tote.
Sequins and bling are big too, so the more bling the better in a clutch. I love this Ombre Clutch from Accessorize.
Pyjamas
Just like slippers, new PJ’s are a must for Christmas. Really we never look any further than Next for PJ’s. This pair of Navy and White Stripe are perfect.
For something more festive, I love this pair of Fair Isle Christmas PJ’s from F&F.
For pure luxury then The White Company Sateen Stripe PJ are just beautiful and classic and will last years.
Fragrance
Every woman loves fragrance. Whether its her own notable scent or the candle she lights when she takes her bath.
It’s always been my opinion, that once a lady has a fragrance, then she should stick with it and make it her own. So always buy her favourite perfume.
My favourite has always been Vivienne Westwood’s Boudoir.
Anything from Jo Malone is a luxury gift. To get started the Pomegranate Noir Candle is the perfect gift. The scent is woody, fruity and elegantly dark.
The White company Winter Signature Candle is my sisters favourite and really makes the home smell like Christmas.
The White Company Fresh Fig Room Spray is divine and they also do the same fragrance in their Room Diffuser as well as many other fragrances.
Yankee Candle Simply Home are readily available in most stores. Tesco, Asda and Homebase etc. Our favourite Christmas scent is Merry Berry.
Accessories and misc.
Everyone loves a scarf. There are literally hundreds to choose from out there but my pick is this beautiful check soft scarf from Zara. Its classic and big enough to use as a wrap. And checks are big news this season.
Hats are also big news this season. From the classic Beanie to the Felt Fedora. Anything goes. My pick is this beautiful Maroon Wool Hat from H&M.
A Filofax is always a great gift choice for the girl who loves to be organised. This Domino Spot Personal Filofax is my pick.
Kate Spade has a beautiful range of note books and agenda organisers for 2016/17. I love this Quick and Curious Agenda Planner. It is perfect for any stationary lover. As is the Black Stripe Agenda Planner.
Purses are also a great gift. On my wish list this year is the Kate Spade Cedar Street Wallet in Mulled Wine, but the selection and colour choices are endless for a more special gift.
For something a little different and to house all her jewels, I love this Jewellery Stand from Oliver Bonas. It comes in Medium or Large and in gold, silver or copper. Its a stunning piece for any dressing table.
Maybe your girl loves her home. If she does, then a throw/blanket is always welcomed. I love this one Diamond Jacquard one from West Elm. If this one is not your style, there are literally tons to choose from in all colours and the prices are good too.
Beauty
For a touch of luxury in the bath or shower then L’Occitanes Almond Shower oil is divine. It transforms into a luxurious foaming shower gel that softens even the driest of skin. It smells heavenly too.
Soap and glory gift sets never get old. This years selection is as good as ever. My pick is the Soap and Glory Soaper Star Gift Set. The set contains all my most used faves, including scrub of your life and hand food.
A touch of luxury cleansing comes from Eve Lom. The Eve Lom Balm Cleanser is heavenly. Its a multi-award winning, multi purpose cleanser, suitable for all skin types. It is cleansing, antiseptic, it tones and softens skin for anti-aging and can remove all make-up. It really is a cult beauty product.
By Terry Baume De Rose is the epitome of lip balms. It nourishes the lips and restructures to provide a fuller lip. It now comes in a tinted version too, my pick is the Rosy Babe for a natural flush of colour for those that do not want too much colour but all the nourishment. It makes the lips completely kissable.
For a highly regarded, all natural and world renowned skin care range that everyone can rely on, then its got to be Liz Earle. Her cleanse system is widely regarded and I have used for years. For starters go for the Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth cleanser, and the Instant Boost Skin Tonic.
That brings us to the end of my Christmas 2015 gift guide. I really hope it’s inspired you and even got you excited for all the joys that Christmas brings. Enjoy shopping my loves.
